Abstract: Field studies were conducted West Bengal, India, in 2008, to determine the residue and persistence behaviour of the herbicide quizalofop-p-terfuryl in black gram (both plant and soil). The formulation 4.41% EC quizalofop-p-terfuryl (Pantera) was applied plot to plot by a knapsack sprayer with flat pan nozzle at 40 and 80 g a.i./ha. Soil samples were collected at an interval of 0, 1, 5, 10, 15 and 30 days and at harvest from each plot. Plant samples were collected from the treated black gram and both samples were analysed in the laboratory. Results showed that the initial concentrations of quizalofop-p-terfuryl dissipated with an increment of time and it followed first order kinetics irrespective of dose. No residues were detected in the analysed soil and plant samples throughout the study.
