Abstract: The effects of sowing date and fertilizer treatments on the flowering of hybrid rice were studied in Uttar Pradesh, India. The parental lines of hybrid rice NDURH 3 (produced from IR 58025A as the seed parent and NDRK 5026 1R as the restorer parent) were used. The A line was sown on 28 June 2009, whereas the R line was sown 7, 10 or 13 June 2009 (S1, S2 and S3, respectively). The fertilizer treatments consisted of N (urea), P2O5 and K2O at 120, 60 and 60 kg/ha, respectively. The spikelet fertility of the R line was greatest (97.07%) for S1 + urea application. The grain yield of A line was greatest (5.40 g per plant) under S3 + urea application. High levels of heritability and genetic advance were recorded for number of filled spikelets in both A and R lines.
